FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MORE THAN 25 YEARS!! A new album by Australia´s seminal underground rock´n´roll band ASTEROID B612 Born outta a simple desire to jump back on a stage with some old mates comes the new album ´roads, stars. by Asteroid B612. Recorded in both Australia and Spain during 2024. Mixed and mastered in Spain by Pepe Gomar and Mike Mariconda, upon listening you will hear the band at their rockin´ best featuring all the hall marks that made them underground crowd favorites throughout the 90´s while touring Australia and America. Featuring the forever rocking guitar sounds of band founder/guitarist/songwriter Johnny Casino, the raw yet soulful voice and lyrics of original singer (first 4 albums) Grant McIver and the locomotive drumming of long time (5 albums with the band) drummer Ben Fox. Adding new members Guitar player Xabi Garre (Senor No, Roy Loney, Cheetah Chrome) Bass player Juancho Lopez (Paul Collins, Peralta, Kurt Baker Combo) What started out as a bet on a long shot turned into an album that might just be their best work!! coming after a 25 year dry spell! After a great tour of Spain in 2022 the question was raised ¨would we like to do this again?¨ the answer was YES!! but not willing to rest on their back catalog of 5 albums during the 90´s the songwriting partnership of John A Spittles (Johnny Casino) and Grant McIver got to work on a new idea or two in order to blow some fresh air into the bands lungs. After a few months of ´long distance´ songwriting (Johnny living in Spain and Grant in Australia) with the help of Benny Fox the bands drummer since 1993 2 songs turned into 10 and ¨road, stars¨ was born…….well kinda. Johnny had a planned trip to Australia to visit family and play some Johnny Casino concerts so while ¨downunder¨ the 3 members got back into the rehearsal room for the first time in more than 25years and fleshed out the songs and 3 days later the basic tracks for the album where recorded, ´the tapes´then made their way back to Spain with Johnny where Xabi and Juancho would record their parts and where Johnny´s longtime buddy and recording engineer Pepe Gomar would mix the album, Mike Mariconda (Raunch Hands, Devil Dogs, New Bomb Turks) would master the album. Road, stars gives you 10 classic yet fresh sounding Asteroid B612 songs, never straying to far from their original sound with that wild and passionate rock´n´roll feel.
